CHS planted trees to mark the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebration as part of The Green Canopy initiative, which aims to highlight the educational aspects of trees and the significance of giving young people access to nature as a way to inspire them as the future custodians of green spaces, forests and woodlands.

With our own wormeries housing a colony of worms producing a nutritious compost - our Junior School pupils have made trellis for the green beans, and have planted radishes, potatoes, beetroot, onions and lettuce. Each week the garden is tended to by our CHS gardening enthusiasts and the harvest is taken to the kitchen and used in the School lunch menu.

Our Living Wall provides a habitat for insects and connects the CHS community with nature. A simple but effective installation - the Living Wall is constructed with planter boxes and a variety of plants which attract all sorts of Bug Life from the wildlife world.

The School pond bring lots of wildlife to the Academic Quad and is a valuable teaching resource which sees lots of pond dipping, bug searches and studies of lifecycles.
