Anyone can dial 999/112 for an ambulance if they believe that a student’s life may be at risk. It is better to call and be wrong than not to call. They will ask for the postcode which is SK8 6EF for the school lane entrance or SK8 6EG for Claremont Road.
Dial 999 to call an ambulance, if you are using a mobile phone dial 112 and keep the phone on speaker. State the exact location and best entrance to use, your name, telephone number, nature of the symptoms/emergency (and any known medical condition). Do not hang up until the information has been repeated back to you. Never cancel the ambulance once it has been called.
Ask someone to advise the Estates Team that an ambulance is on its way (the Estates Team will be on standby at the main gates and get ready to clear routes into School where necessary),
Call the First Aider for assistance (3347/3349/3360 or the School radio)
Contact parents if the First Aider is unable to do this/if necessary.
Keep talking to the ambulance controller until the ambulance arrives.
More information and advice is available within the Medical Emergencies and Major Accidents Procedures.
