Students participate in PE for two hours per week. Students take part in a number of activities to develop their skills, knowledge and understanding and tactical awareness in different sports. Students participate in a broad range of activities that change in a four-weekly cycle. Students are assessed after each activity using assessment grids based on GCSE PE practical criteria. Students are given aspirational, yet realistic target grades for each activity and all record written targets based on their skills in most need of improvement. Appropriate intervention is implemented for students who are underachieving in Key Stage 3 PE.
During the winter and autumn term the curriculum sports include rugby, dance, hockey, lacrosse, health-related fitness, football, netball, volleyball, basketball, badminton, table tennis and cross country. During the summer term the curriculum sports include athletics, tennis, cricket, rounders and softball.
