What is the DSD LINK Center?
"LINK" stands for "Literacy and Innovative Networking for Knowledge."
The DSD LINK Center is a 21st century school library/media center. It serves the students, staff, and families of Delaware School for the Deaf and Delaware Statewide Programs for the Deaf, Hard of Hearing, and Deaf-Blind (DSD/SWP).
Every week throughout the school year, the DSD LINK Center's Library/Media Specialist sees students ages 3-22 for library classes, ASL story times, special events, research assistance, book advisory, and book circulation.
Vision: The DSD LINK Center is a 21st century library and information hub of resources focused on raising, educating, and developing the literacy and language of children who are Deaf, Hard of Hearing, or Deaf/Blind. Resources and collections are accessible to all students, their families, and their service providers in formats that are both web- and site-based.
Mission: The DSD LINK Center enhances educational programs and outcomes for all Delaware Deaf, Hard of Hearing, and Deaf/Blind students by supporting language and literacy development and education.

About me
I love being the DSD School Library/Media Specialist. I've worked at DSD since 1991 and I've held many positions - starting out in the Dorm as a Resident Advisor, teaching Preschool, teaching 1st/2nd Grade, and as one of DSD's original Bilingual Literacy Specialists. And now, after over twenty years as a Bilingual Literacy Specialist, I get to put my expertise related to Deaf and Hard of Hearing children's bilingual language and literacy development to work in the "literacy hub" of the school! I especially love that I get to work with literally every student in the school - from age 3 to age 22! I love sharing books and knowledge with my students, whom I hope will stay curious and continue reading long after they've graduated from DSD, no matter where life's path might lead them.
I was born and raised in northern Delaware, and I received my Bachelor of Science in K-12 Deaf Education & minor in Psychology from Trenton State College (now known as The College of New Jersey) in 1991. From there I went on to earn my Master of Science in Elementary Deaf Education with a special concentration in the literacy development of bilingual Deaf children from Western Maryland College (now known as McDaniel College) in 1999. I later attended the University of Delaware to study for and receive my certification as School Library/Media Specialist in 2017.
