iPad Support

iPad Support for Kindergarten Staff

What is Happening:

Kindergarten students and staff will be receiving an iPad and case for the 24-25 school year. Students are receiving the light rubber case with a handle and staff will get a hard case with a keyboard.

Technology is responsible for setting up and delivering teacher iPads with the goal to get them out before the end of the 23-24 school year to allow teachers to begin to plan, think, and implement deployment for the 24-25 school year. During the spring of 2024 the instructional technology team will deploy iPads and get them set up with the Kindergarten teachers.

As teachers discover new apps there will be a place in Incident IQ for them to request access for their classrooms.

Technology will spend the summer preparing and distributing the student iPads on a schedule that works for technology and building leadership.

Why is this Happening:

Research has shown that iPads in the hands of our youngest students provide avenues for expression, freedom, and creativity that fits in line with our Vision of increasing our SAMR (Substitution, Augmentation, Modification, Redefinition) levels of classroom engagement. iPads provide a highly interactive learning experience through touchscreens, gestures, and multimedia content. This engagement can enhance comprehension and retention of educational concepts. All applications including everything in ClassLink will be accessible on an iPad.

Action Needed:

Teachers: Get familiar with your new device by leveraging the resources on this page. If needed, reach out to the Instructional Technology team to schedule additional training.

Other information:

As of this correspondence iPads are only going to be used in the Kindergarten classrooms for whole/small/centers instruction, but extra or older iPads could be used in centers with some Pre-K students. There is no current plan to have these iPads roll up to 1st grade.
