The best thing about a Culinary Arts degree is that you can use it to do so much. For example, while you may not be a "top chef" on television, you can walk into most top restaurants and get a job. Granted, that job may not be the highest on the totem poll but you are still positioned more favorably to be considered to fill food service employment openings where as you gain experience you may quickly work your way up. Don't want to work in a restaurant kitchen? Culinary degrees may be applied in positions in catering operations, cake decorating, restaurant marketing & media, food styling, cookbook writing & publishing, corporate research kitchens, or zoological nutritionists— the options are really endless! Having a culinary degree makes it easier for you to break into any field that interests you.
Below are but a few trade programs, colleges and universities with Culinary Arts and/or Hospitality and Tourism programs. While culinary school can be a lot of fun— not to mention, extremely rewarding— it can also be a trying experience that will test you emotionally and physically, like nothing else. Therefore, it is important to know what you're getting into before applying to any program.
Either way you choose please do your research and determine which continuing education path is the best fit for you.
