Reminders
What to bring to Kindergarten:
Extra Change of Cloths
Extra Snacks/Lunch
Indoor Shoes
Water Bottle
Family Photo - I ask that you bring a family photo because we are going to display photos of our families in the classroom. We cannot ignore the role of family in your child’s education. We are a team. When your child sees photos of their family, they know they are safe and that their families are with them on this journey

In the kindergarten class we will be using Whole Body Listening as our classroom management strategy. This is to ensure a positive classroom community. Whole Body Listening is a holistic listening approach that integrates all body senses.
Eyes watching
Hands Empty
Body Still
Ears Listening
Mouth Quiet
We will also use positive reinforcement in all scenarios in our classroom, reminding our friends to make good choices, always be kind, and respect one another. We want to instill the teachings of our Seven Grandfathers as well as the Medicine Wheel. We also use our language, Anishnaabemowin, to help our friends in the classroom.
The information on the left goes over the four frames within the Kindergarten program.
The Kindergarten program is organized into four broad areas or “frames.” These frames reflect the way in which learning naturally occurs during children’s exploration, play and inquiry.
The Kindergarten program is based on four broad learning areas:
1. Belonging and Contributing
2. Self-Regulation and Well-Being
3. Demonstrating Literacy and Mathematics Behaviours
4. Problem Solving and Innovating
These areas focus on aspects of learning that are critical to your child’s development. They also reflect the integrated way in which your child will learn through play and inquiry in our classrooms. These four frames also align with the four foundations of early learning used in Ontario child care centres: belonging, engagement, expression and well-being.
