National Poem in Your Pocket Day is coming up, and CHS is celebrating on April 23rd. Traditionally on this day folks gather in the library, and listen to students and staff read poems they wrote or others have written that are meaningful. The day celebrates the legacy of former English teacher Megumi Yamamoto, and the library is decorated with paper cranes folded by students in her honor.

This year the library is holding a “Can You Haiku?” contest. A haiku is a three line poem that is made up of 5 syllables, then 7, then 5 again, and usually doesn’t rhyme. Students or staff can submit a haiku they wrote to the library that will be judged on April 30th by the Rampage editors! The first and second place winners will receive either a Cheshire Coffee or Dunkin gift card!
