A cultural icon here at CHS is none other than our dear mascot Ramsey the ram. But, as many students know, Ramsey has had a difficult past. Now, for the first time ever, Rampage editors have been able to get an interview with this pillar of Cheshire high school pride.

Ramsey’s difficult past started in his senior year when he was not allowed to graduate due to his F grade in study hall.

“They told me I was in the 99th percentile, I thought I was top of the class. But when graduation came, I was caught off guard. Apparently, being in the 99th percentile doesn't mean you are at the top, and the principal informed me that I would have to retake my senior year. It kept happening, and eventually, they decided I was better off as a school mascot instead of a student.”

Ramsey also didn’t have a name until a few years ago. When asked about his lack of a name, Ramsey stated “It’s really difficult to go through so many years of your life with no name, especially when one's name is so closely tied with one's identity. I feel like my years of teen angst were very much motivated by this struggle.”

It’s clear that there's a lot more to Ramsey than we know. Maybe he's more than a school mascot. Maybe he's just like us.
