It's that time of year again! On Saturday, December 14, families and their children will experience a completely transformed CHS. Kids won't be walking into a high school that day; instead, they will be greeted by a host of winter-themed activities and festivities that they can only find at our annual Winterfest.
Winterfest (short for Winter Festival) became a tradition at Cheshire High in 2012. After Coach Dan Lee established the Ryan T. Lee Memorial Foundation to honor his deceased son, Mrs. Maureen DiSorbo and Mr. Swanson created Winterfest to raise money for Coach Lee's foundation. The festival has since grown into one of the most expansive and memorable events at our high school.Â
With the number of things to do at Winterfest, it is no mystery how it grew in popularity so quickly. The cafeteria, for instance, fills up with CHS clubs running crafts and games for the hundreds of kids in attendance. From crafting penguin bookmarks with the National Honor Society and making "reindeer food" with the girls' volleyball team to playing dreidel at the Hanukkah table and doing Henna designs at the Ramadan table, kids rarely run out of activities to enjoy. The school orchestra's live performance throughout the event make the activities even more memorable.
The cafeteria activities are not the only feature of Winterfest, though. After taking a quick trip on the elevator-turned-Polar Express, kids will find themselves in a winter wonderland of their favorite characters come to life. Walking through the decorated math hallway, kids will be able to play with Elsa and Anna in Arendelle; the Whos and the Grinch in Whoville; and Mr. and Mrs. Claus, reindeer, elves, and many others in the North Pole. Kids will also be able to enjoy a brand-new elf station this year, joining Santa's helpers to wrap and deliver presents in time for Christmas Day.
This year's Winterfest, just as every one before it, promises to give attendees a delightful start to the holiday season.
Winterfest will be at Cheshire High on December 14, 2024 from 11 AM to 3 PM. Tickets are $10 per child or $20 per family.
