2021 Halloween Costume Ideas

As October 31st gets closer the question of what to dress up as for Halloween begins to trouble our minds. Luckily, this year in pop culture included a plethora of characters, memes, and iconic moments that serve as costume inspiration.

Superhero costumes have become a Halloween staple overtime. During the past year, Marvel has released three new shows on Disney+ including WandaVision, Falcon and the Winter Soldier, and Loki. Wanda and Vision from WandaVision, and Bucky and Sam from Falcon and the Winter Soldier are great for dynamic duos. Loki can be a solid standalone costume, but Loki and his variants are a fun idea for smaller groups. For groups of girls, the Widows from Black Widow dressed in vests, bodysuits, braids, and eyeliner make for a powerful costume. For DC fans, The Suicide Squad includes a quirky set of characters such as Harley Quinn, King Shark, Peacemaker, Ratcatcher, and more.

Other television shows this year have provided costume ideas for big groups. Squid Game, the breakout show of the year, is an easy, yet trendy costume that just requires green tracksuits. For those who are looking to dress up, a Bridgerton inspired costume calls for corsets, frilly collars, long skirts, pearls, and fancy hairstyles. Ties, collared shirts, plaid skirts, and blazers are key components of those looking to emulate the stylish and preppy ensemble of this year’s Gossip Girl reboot.

2021 also included other major pop culture moments such as the viral game Among Us. Its team of colorful crewmates is another perfect group costume. Another trending moment of the year was Kim Kardashian at the Met Gala. For this costume, all that is needed is a black morph suit and a black dress. The most talked about event of the year was the Tokyo Olympics. Show team spirit by sporting leotards, tracksuits, and other athletic apparel in red, white, and blue.
