Cheshire Girls’ Soccer has started off the season with a fiery attitude and unquenchable thirst for victory. With a record of 8-1-1, the Rams have secured 6 shutouts and racked up over 20 goals. Despite heart wrenching injuries, everyone from the defense to the offense has continued to work hard. But, what other factors have contributed to this impressive record?

Every player contributes to the team in a unique and significant way. They all have different strengths that fit into the overall team dynamic. But, their shared mindset is the factor that truly unites them into the team they are today. If you ask any girl on the team, one will discover that this mindset can be summed up in one word: GRIT.

Introduced to the team by the new coaching staff, former graduates of CHS, Head Coach Kylee and Assistant Coach Eric, GRIT has become the heart of the team. As Coach Kylee has emphasized, “My coaching philosophy and the mindset for the girls is for them to be gritty. I want them working hard regardless of the situation or outcome. Grit is what I want to go for and, hopefully, it will bring us a lot of success and wins.” The passion, internal toughness, and growth the word GRIT suggests are on each player’s mind during every practice and game. These players never gives up and never makes excuses. Instead of letting failure drag them down, they takes each defeat as a challenge and opportunity to grow. They keep their heads high, adapt, and overcome.

If you would like to see the Rams GRIT it out on the field, support them at their next home game versus East Haven on Thursday, October 17th at 6pm!
