On December 28th, school nurse Nancy Stanton was one of the first in our community to get vaccinated. She stated the following about the process:

Did you get the Pfizer or the Moderna vaccine?

Pfizer

What is required to get the vaccine?

In order to get the vaccine, I had to be registered through the state system called VAMS. They are giving the vaccine in phases and only people that qualify for a particular phase are able to register in the system.

What was the process like?

The process was easy. Once I was registered in VAMS, I received an email to set up an appointment for my vaccine. At the appointment I had to check in, received the shot, waited 15 minutes to ensure I did not have a reaction and left. I was required to set up an appointment for my second shot before I left.

Did you have any side effects?

The only side effect I had was a sore arm for one day.

What would you tell everyone about the vaccine?

I would tell others that the process was very easy and painless. I am so happy to have the opportunity to get the vaccine and look forward to it being available to everyone!
