With the end of 2021 in view and the New Year approaching, we’re all thinking about those new goals and ambitions of ours; to put away the ramen and cook healthy meals. Millions of Americans every year say it is their New Year’s resolution to start eating healthier, however, statistics show that less than 8% of people actually stick to their goals. Nowadays, eating healthy is expensive. To shop for organic foods is an investment. But many people don’t know about Misfits Market.

The reason lots of produce and product prices go up is that chain grocery stores or supermarkets won’t sell what are called “Imperfect Foods.” This means that fruits and vegetables with odd shapes or almonds with scarring are considered “ugly" and unmarketable, despite tasting just as good as their supermarket counterparts. According to their website, Misfits Market is an “online value grocer dedicated to making affordable, high-quality food more accessible while helping break the cycle of food waste.” They take “imperfect foods” and other products and offer better deals on valuable groceries that would otherwise be thrown away and contribute to the 150 billion pounds of waste each year.

It's genius really, and it doesn’t make sense why it hasn’t been this way all along. You can order your groceries online for reduced prices and have it delivered to your doorstep. At the end of the day, it doesn’t matter what your apple or carrot is shaped like, as long as it’s healthy, it all looks the same once you eat it!
