With the ups and downs of life, sometimes people forget to take care of themselves on a daily basis. Self-care such as exercise, watching your eating habits, sleeping, and even focusing on the positive things in your life are very important for your mental health. Although self-care can look different for everybody, it is beneficial for these components to be practiced in your life. If you are struggling to find these aspects in your daily routine, here are some examples that could help you with staying healthy in all ways. 

 

Exercise- If you are able to be active for at least 30 minutes everyday, this can be extremely helpful for boosting your mood and your endurance. Even if you are able to get 30 minutes of exercise in smaller increments it can significantly change your health in a positive way. 


Eating Habits- Having a level and balanced diet on a daily basis is very important in the aspect of self-care. It is also very essential to drink a substantial amount of water each day, as staying hydrated can affect how you feel throughout the day. You should be drinking about 91-125 oz of water a day to keep up with your energy levels. 


Sleep- Getting enough sleep each night is vital to having the right start to your day, and without 7-8 hours of sleep a night it could be very difficult to focus. Lack of sleep can lead to mood swings, having a tough time staying awake in class, and can cause lack of grasping certain concepts and remembering them.

 

Focus on the Good- When you are able to focus on the positive aspects of your life more often, it can help boost your mood and your outlook on events throughout your day. However, don’t try to always keep your bad emotions bottled up, because that can have a negative effect on your mental health. 


If you are able to set yourself into a routine that works for you, this can offer an immense amount of support for your mental health. With all of these habits incorporated into your daily life, it will help you live an overall healthier and happier lifestyle.
