The Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) is a large private school located in the suburbs surrounding Rochester, in northern New York. The school is well known for its tech and engineering classes, being the only school to contain a microsystems engineering major, and one of the first to recognize information technology and software engineering. The campus, classrooms and majors are those of a computer nerd’s dreams.

“Brick City”, as the campus is called by its students and faculty, is contained in a small suburb called Henrietta, with downtown Rochester just a 5 minute bus ride away. The campus is large and sprawling, with its 11 colleges being spread out in the various halls around campus. Much of the campus is actually connected by tunnel, so it’s not always required to go outside in the frozen winters of northern New York to get to your classes. There are more than 300 student clubs and organizations, with the school having a notable theater club, despite not offering a theater major.

The school also has an outstanding internship and Co-op program. RIT guarantees that every student will find an internship or Co-op, whether it’s on-campus or halfway across the country. RIT also has a fairly large study abroad program, with the school itself having campuses in China, Kosovo, the UAE and 2 in Croatia. The school supports study abroad programs almost everywhere in the world. For more information, visit https://www.rit.edu/.
