This year, the College Board announced that students must sign up for Advanced Placement, or AP exams, earlier than before. Now, students must register to take the 2020 AP tests in May by November 15th, 2019. In previous years, students were able to register for exams at a later date, typically sometime in late winter.

Students will be able to register for exams after November 15th, but with an added fee of $40 (the on-time registration fee is $94 per exam). This late registration period will last until March 13th, 2020. Exams begin just under two months later.

Another new fee is being instituted: a cancellation fee. Should a student decide they no longer want to take an AP exam they have signed up for, they will have to pay $40 per cancelled exam.

Students who require financial aid will receive a waiver for $32 off each exam, though the rest of the $53 must be paid by them. Additional financial aid may be available through federal or state funding, depending on the situation.

AP exams will take place at Cheshire High School in May. Students can also request testing accommodations if needed—the College Board suggests submitting the documentation for accommodations by mid-February.

If you have any questions about AP exams, exam registration, or the exam process, make sure to ask your AP teacher or ask the guidance office.
