As tuition fees for many American four-year universities now exceed $50,000, and acceptance rates become lower and lower, the idea of studying internationally has been increasingly appealing for many students. Neighboring Canada has quickly become one of the most popular destinations for its friendly cities and diverse cultures. Here are some reasons why you should consider Canada in your college pursuits.

  1. Affordability. The average college tuition for a Canadian citizen is about $6,000 CAD, or about $4,700 USD. However, even international students can enjoy a relatively low tuition fee - the average international tuition is about $30,000 CAD, or about $23,000 USD. As you can see, the currency exchange rate is in your favor!

  2. Culture. You’ll be exposed to a vibrant culture containing a variety of British, French, and American influences. Canada is officially a bilingual country, speaking both English and French, but almost everybody understands English.

  3. Safety. For those who are looking to study in cities, Canadian cities are ranked highly in world safety indices due to strict gun control and clean air regulations.

  4. Prestige. Canadian universities boast high global rankings, with its top three schools (UofT, UBC, McGill) consistently placed in the top 50 schools in the world.
