The College and Career Center (C&CC) at CHS (located in the Guidance Office) has really taken off this year, offering incredible opportunities to students. This article will highlight the main opportunities students have to explore post-high school options through the C&CC. If you are interested in any of these, reach out to Mrs. DeAngelo at ldeangelo1@cheshire.k12.ct.us. Also, you can join the College and Career GoogleClassroom with the code tlc3mv2 to receive updates and information on everything the Center has to offer.

Career Panels:

Recently, the C&CC has been organizing career panels in which people from various professions come to the school and inform students about their specific career. Students have the opportunity to learn from professionals about jobs they may be interested in. Panelists inform students about various aspects of their careers including the education/training required as well as what their job might look like on a day-to-day basis. These panels occur during school hours and are open to any student who signs up.

Trade Career Panel:

A specific panel coming on March 29th, 2023 will include representatives from trade careers and schools who will explain opportunities available to students interested in trade jobs in the future. This panel will include the Apprentice Coordinator from Ironworkers, the Director of the Construction Education Center (carpentry, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, sheet metal), a School Counselor from Bristol Tech, a Technician & Shop Foreman from GM, a representative from Marion Manufacturing Company, and a representative from the CT Dept of Labor.

Job Shadow Opportunity:

A form has been released to upperclassmen who can fill it out to express interest in a job shadow that would be arranged by the C&CC. The form allows students to express a first and second choice for a job shadow, and based on the responses, the C&CC will try to arrange a local job shadow. If a job shadow is not possible, the C&CC might also reach out to you if someone with your career intrest will be at CHS for a panel.

College Fair:

Cheshire High School will be hosting a College Fair on Wednesday, April 19th, from 6-7:30pm for CHS students and students from surrounding towns. This is a great opportunity to explore colleges students may be interested in and be able to ask personal questions to college representatives. There is the chance to enhance admission opportunities by connecting directly with representatives from schools you plan to apply to.

As of right now, the schools attending are as follows:
