Laufey, a 24-year-old Icelandic-Chinese singer-songwriter, is quickly gaining popularity among teens and young adult listeners. Laufey has released two albums so far, with Bewitched being her latest. Her most recent release, a single titled “Goddess,” is featured (along with three more new songs) on an extended edition of Bewitched, which was released on April 26th. She also won the Grammy award for Best Traditional Pop Album this year.

As part of her recent rise to stardom, Laufey has just begun her Bewitched: The Goddess tour, in which she will perform in venues across the United States, as well as some locations in the UK and Canada. Tickets have already started selling rapidly; her teen and young adult audience is extremely eager to see the artist perform. Many listeners love Laufey’s relatable take on being a young adult and the stresses that come with growing up, both of which are common themes in her music. In her songs, Laufey masterfully combines traditional jazz music with poignant lyrics, as well as subtle elements of current pop music. Inspired by her childhood fascination with jazz and classical training, she also often includes covers of jazz standards in her albums.

Recently on social media, Laufey released a word search template, where fans could search for all of the song titles on her Bewitched album. However, the word search also included four new songs (including “Goddess”) that the artist had not yet released the titles of. Later, Laufey released the full tracklist of Bewitched: The Goddess Edition, with the three mystery songs: “Bored,” “Trouble,” and “It Could Happen to You.” Fans are already enthralled by Bewitched: The Goddess Edition, which is only about a week old, and audio clips of “Bored” have even gone viral on social media.

I am ecstatic to be seeing Laufey perform at Radio City Music Hall this May. As someone who has appreciated music and performance my whole life, I love seeing Laufey bring back the traditional jazz style, as it is something different and refreshing in the music world today.
