Throughout the year millions of Americans and international fans watch award shows like the Oscars, Tonys, Emmys, and various music awards. Arguably one of the largest and most important is happening on February 2, 2025. The Grammys are one of the highest musical achievements. This show honors various artists, collective works, and more. Grammys are awarded to many genres such as pop, country, rap, and others. The Grammys are also distributed for best songwriting, producing, music video, and a coveted lifetime achievement award with past winners being people like Prince and Tammy Wynette. In total there are 94 awards to be won, this may seem high but in 2009 there was a total of 105 awards given out. This year will be the 67th Grammys, proving its importance and prestige throughout the music industry.
Dominating Award Season
Even though there are many awards to be won it is common for categories to be dominated by a few musical artists. This statement is especially true this year, popular artists Billie EIlish, Kendrick Lamar, Charli XCX, and Post Malone have garnered 7 nominations each in the largest categories of the show. Trailing close behind Taylor Swift has six nominations under her belt, while this isn’t the most number of nominations she’s gotten before Swift has already won 14 Grammy awards in her career.
The Big 4
The Grammys has many prestigious awards spanning from writing to producing but there are four awards known as the big 4: album of the year, record of the year, song of the year, and best new artist.
