This past Thursday was the opening night of the Cheshire High School play Antigone in Munich. I went to see the play for the Friday night performance and most of my thoughts were mainly positive with a few critiques along the way. Although I enjoyed being in and out of the theater quickly on my Friday night, I felt as if the play was could have been longer and gone more in-depth about some of Sophia’s relationships with other minor characters.

The actors played their roles exceptionally. I was first impressed by the performances of Matt Long, and Grace Azaula. They not only played their roles very well but they were also as still as statues while Juliana and company performed their parts of the play. Being someone who does not have much of theater background, Grace and Matt holding such a still composure when it was not their scene allowed me to understand that what Matt and Grace were doing represented the future as compared to what Juliana and other cast members were doing.

Ian Osborne also did a fantastic job keeping his Russian accent all throughout the entirety of the play. Ian holding the same enthusiasm and accuracy in his accent made me feel like I knew his character far better and it also made him stand out.

Lastly, I enjoyed the talkback with the actors at the end of the play. All of the actors have worked so hard over the past months and it was a good opportunity for the participants to talk about their experiences and hard work with the play.
