With the COVID pandemic raging in America, especially the crowded New York City, the Broadway Theater district had to close it’s 41 theaters as of March 12, 2020. Cast members of the many shows that were now indefinitely canceled went home and wondered when they would step back on the stage. What they thought would be no longer than a month turned into over a year.

After a year, Broadway was able to announce that in September of 2021, they would be opening the theaters once again and welcoming back many of their famous shows including Wicked, The Lion King, Hamilton, and more. Six months after that, Broadway officially opened its doors to audiences of theater-goers who, after a year and a half, were overjoyed to step foot into the theaters.

Tickets, especially with lowered prices due to being closed for so long, sold out quickly, and actors and actresses performed yet again to full houses. Because of the large crowds, COVID rules are in place at all theaters. Audience members must either show their vaccination card or negative test result upon entry to the theater and wear masks at all times. Even with these setbacks, the shows must go on!
