Moving onto Cubs
Moving onto Cubs
Eventually, it will be time to say farewell to Beavers and embrace your next big adventure with Cubs!
Moving on to Cubs is an exciting milestone. You might feel excited about trying new activities and making new friends, but you may also feel a little sad about leaving Beavers and the friends you have made. It's completely normal to have mixed feelings about change, and it's okay to feel nervous or unsure.
In the run-up to your last night at Beavers, your Beaver Leader will work with the Cub leadership team to help make your move as smooth and enjoyable as possible. You may have already met some of the Cub leaders during joint activities.
Beavers usually move on to Cubs between the ages of 7½ and 8½. However, the timing can be flexible depending on each young person's needs and circumstances. Where possible, leaders will also consider when friends are moving up, so children can begin their next adventure together.
On your last night at Beavers, we'll celebrate your time with us and present your Moving On Award before you begin your next adventure with Cubs!
Cub Scouts build on the skills and experiences gained in Beavers, with new challenges, activities, badges and awards. There are plenty of opportunities to develop independence, learn new skills, work as a team, explore the outdoors and have fun with friends.
Your Scouting journey continues, with even more adventures ahead!
Moving to Cubs is an exciting step, but it's natural for some Beavers to feel a little nervous about the change.
You can help by talking positively about the new activities they'll get to try, encouraging them to ask questions and reminding them that their new leaders will be there to support them.
If your child is worried about moving up, please speak to us. We want every Beaver to feel supported and confident as they begin their next Scouting adventure.
