Office Assistants

Assistants staff the Resource Center and Main Office front desk by welcoming students, staff, and the community in a friendly, helpful way.

They assist students and staff in the following ways:

• Greet guests and check-in students

• Provide information and answer questions

• Answer phones and make calls as needed

• Help students schedule appointments

• Maintain office and resource center work areas 

• Assist staff with special projects and events

• Other duties as assigned

Minimum qualifications:

• Be enrolled in at least 6 credits at Chemeketa

• Maintain at least a 2.75 GPA

• Pass all classes with a “C” or better 

Requirements:

• Ability to work with a diverse population 

• Open to feedback, suggestions, and evaluation

• Strong communication and listening skills

• Able to maintain confidentiality

Peer Tutors

Tutors provide essential support for students, helping to enhance learning & build skills for success. 

They assist students in the following ways:

• Review course content

• Help with homework or exam preparation

• Review essays

• Using Canvas, calculators, and other technology

• Study strategies and time management tips

Minimum qualifications:

• Be enrolled in at least 6 credits at Chemeketa

• Maintain at least a 3.0 GPA

• Earn an A or a B in the classes you wish to tutor

• Completed at least 8 college credits

Requirements:

• Able to work with and relate to students at different academic levels

• Actively embraces and practices principles of diversity, equity, and inclusion

• Open to feedback, suggestions, and evaluation

• Strong communication and listening skills

• Proficient with technology

Peer Mentors

Mentors assist in our TRIO/CCP classes and help students learn to navigate college successfully. 

They help students in the following ways:

• Assist with completing assignments

• Give feedback and encouragement 

• Monitor academic success

• Follow up on instructor concerns

• Connect students with resources 

Minimum qualifications:

• Be enrolled in at least 6 credits at Chemeketa

• Maintain at least a 3.0 GPA

• Successfully complete all classes each term

Requirements:

• Ability to work with a diverse student population 

• Open to feedback, suggestions, and evaluation

• Strong communication and listening skills

• Proficient with technology

• Able to maintain confidentiality

• Desires to develop leadership skills working directly with students and staff 

• Able to work 10-12 hours per week
