Purchasing an Instrument

Important points to remember:

1. If your child is using a full-sized instrument, it is more economical to purchase an instrument than to rent.

2. Do not buy the cheapest instrument you can find. You will end up spending more money on repairs than you did on the instrument itself. Plus, cheaper instruments are harder to play, and they do not stay in tune.

3. Purchase the instrument from a reputable store. Cheap instruments sold on Ebay or at discount stores like Walmart have a bad sound and break easily.

4. When possible, have your child play the instrument before you purchase it. They will be more enthusiastic about playing and practicing when they like the sound of their instrument.
