Restorative language helps shift the focus of the conversation to the root cause of concern and help to repair any harm done. Restorative language uses "I" statements to remain non-judgemental and empathetic. Restorative questions are used to process wrongdoing or conflict.
When there has been harm done or a wrong doing, consider these Restorative Questions to help guide the conversation and uncover the root of the issue/concern:
What happened?
What were you thinking then/since?
Who could have been affected by what you did and how?
What could you have done differently?
What needs to happen now to make things right?
