MULTI-CULTURAL DAY
MCD
MCD
MCD is an important, traditional part of our school culture. MCD takes place the day before we begin spring break. On this day, we learn, celebrate, and focus on our many student's cultures, religions, identities and groups that are represented here at East. Students share with us their culture/identity, and its' rich traditions by displaying artifacts, share information about important events and people, preparing food, wearing their culture's clothing, playing music, and performing dances.
In order to enhance our learning, and make the day more meaningful, and enriching, we have expanded MCD to go beyond the one day we celebrate. Starting on 11/16, each culture club will be featured at least one week to share with us at least five things they believe are important for you to know and learn about their culture. This will allow us to be daily learners of other students' cultures and identities that represent our school. This hopefully, will translate into a more meaningful MCD.
Culture will become a daily part of our lives here at East!
This year's theme: Tying our Past to our Present: How traditions and history have shaped and impacted what we see and celebrate in the cultures of today! Also, listen for each culture club to tie in our Character Ed initiative's acronym
