What I learned in Module 3
In module three, we learned how to use Edit poly and a few other features. We learned how to edit an object to change some bits and parts. In the head on the LEGO mini figure, we used the bevel tool to curve the edges a bit more. We also used polygon selection to help single out polygons for more precise editing. Module 3 is going to be very key to learning how to make things more precise and realistic.
We learned how to directly move/edit vertices. This can help for creating organic and original shapes. You can turn a box into a completely different shape and make it work to whatever you are trying to make. We learned how to attach two different pieces to each other and make them one. And we learned how to mirror images to make them like another, but you can flip them.
We can use these skills in a lot of different fields. Movies can use these to build more detail in their characters. And Architects use these when designing a building. It helps movie designers because they can control everything. if they don't like one little thing, they can change it without messing everything else up.
This also helps designers of all kinds. They can create a 3D blockout of what it will look like in real life. And put their imagination into a design. This is better than drawing it because, even if it isn't more effective or as quick, but it gives the designer a better idea of what they are making. If you are making a desk or chair, and you have an idea but want to see a model of it, this will give you the best idea of what it will look lik
Lego mini figure 9/18/25
II chose to put this project on display because I am very proud of this project. I am proud because it took me a long time and I had to restart multiple times. Some challenges I faced were the modifiers being really difficult. I've never used any modifiers like that or had to deal with adversity like that. Another reason I am proud of this project is because this was very confusing for me, because I have never done anything remotely close to this, so it was a great sense of achievement when I completed this project.
Citizen Cane 10/22/25
In this project we recreated a scene from the movie Citizen Cane. I am very proud of this project because I have never worked with lights or cameras before. So this was some things that were new to me and I feel like I did a pretty good job. While creating this piece, the rendering was messed up and I had to stay patient and trust my work and keep working to overcome this adversity. While working with this project, my rendering was off by a large amount, and nobody knew how to fix it. But I persevered and solved the problem.
Alfie Hitchcat 9/12/25
This is Alfie Hitchcat in front of the temple of primitives. I am very proud of this assignment because we had to snap items together. I had never done this before and it took a lot of patience and practice. I had to restart the snaps multiple times and when I finally got it, it gave me a sense of achievement. After I finished, we had to import it into a different project, and I had never done that before. But after it was completed, I felt proud of myself.
In module six, we learned how to use UVW's and Materials. This is very helpful for when you want something to look like a real world object, but is very complicated to create. We used the physical material to help us apply a wood texture to a plane. This helped it look more realistic and a lot more complex. Even though it was just a plane.
In the future, this will be very helpful to use so that we can make certain parameters look like specific things in the real world. For example, if we wanted to make a sphere look like a special orb, we can place a physical material on the sphere, it can make it look very similar to the orb. Without having to apply a lot of modifiers or animations.
Maltese Falcon 11/5/25
This item that I fixed was very complicated because there were multiple problems with the wax coloring. When applying the materials, the file got messed up. and the settings reset, so I had to redo the entire thing. I was very proud when I finished because it was the first thing I ever did like this, when I applied materials and rendered profusely. This project definitely had its challenges, but I overcame them and I think it turned out very good.
It's Alive! 11/19/25
In this project, we practiced rigging. Which I had never done before, so it was very difficult and confusing, but once I got the hang of it, I did well. Something I'm proud of in this project is the bones because when I was applying them, they would apply very awkwardly and I had to restart them multiple times, but once I was able to figure that out I was able to finish the project fairly quickly.
Indiana Jones Lego Figure 11/10/25
With this project, we learned about the UVWs and how to use them. They were tricky because no one had down them before, but they got very easy after some practice. In this project I learned to align things better so they can show up on the item I'm making, and it was very hard for a little bit but it became a lot easier.
