Runaway stuffie!!!
This is the concept for my animation.
The character is a cartoon version of me I often draw myself as! So they are basically me, unorganized, silly, lazy, loves stuffies, etc.
I am planning on having the camera move to follow the hand as it grabs the stuffie and return to original still position when hand is retracted. The camera will also swivel as the character reaches for the lantern.
This is supposed to be a super silly animation about a superpower I wish I had. My stuffies fall off my bed all the time and I wish I didn't have to walk down my tiny stairs in the middle of the night to get them back. That's why I gave my cartoon version of myself the ability to extend his limbs to grab stuff!
these are some of the first ever drawn concepts for the animation!!!
This is a mini mood board and concept dumping thing :)
NOTES AND ADDITIONS:
-There will be random objects such as sticky-notes and books on the top of the dresser.
-The cup will be moved to the edge of the dresser so it can be bumped and wobble a bit.

[--NONE WILL BE RIGGED INCLUDING CHARACTER--]
The concept for my character was based off me!!! I often draw myself as Mini Robin. He is a sillier, stupider, smaller, version of me :) (seen on left and above in story-boarding) I created my own prompt for this project, it was meant to be super silly so I decided to base the plot on a daily dilemma of mine. Accidentally knocking my stuffies out/off my bed in the middle of the night. I know it's horrible. As seen in the planning and Story-boarding my character accidentally pushes a stuffie off the bed while adjusting his position. He then wakes up, turns on the lamp, extends his arm to retrieve said stuffed animal, then turns off the lamp and returns to sleep. Man I wish I had that power...
The sketches of Mini-Robin did help as a reference for the model but I draw him so much I was able to model him from memory.
He will be so super silly in the animation and I look forward to finishing it! ^_^
I attempted to make a slightly more complex version for the animation with more defined body parts and it was quite easy. Although during the modeling process I made several mistakes that have impacted and impacted my ability to finish this project in time.
I planned to make an among-us print for the pants of Mini-Robin but alas... the UVW decided to spite me...
The UVW unwrapping was... disastrous. I had added spheres for joints and probooleaned them together with the chamfer boxes I used for the legs and the unwrapped version was scary. I plan on re-doing the arms and legs for the final animation and possible texturing.
Overall I shouldn't have procrastinated earlier in the year so I wouldn't be behind here.
*The list of scene assets i will need have already been listed above in the asset and prop design section
The assets i created for this scene where the hanging lamp, The cup, The bed and dressers, and the stairs.
Here are the final results of the modeling!
Any models not listed below weren't made by me!!!! Credits to all the creators and links will be listed at the bottom of the page:
Cup, Lantern, Bed frame, Dresser, Stairs, Walls.
While modeling these objects i ran into A few roadblocks. One of the main ones being the Materials for the objects. I scoured the internet for textures to use and it was really hard to find ones that where free and even just the ones i needed. It took me days to find the ones i needed and that set me back a long way. I did create a few of the textures seen such as the foggy translucent plastic on my lantern that the light can shine through. I found the other random objects and assets easy enough as they are more widely available for free downloads. All the objects in this scene are inspired by real objects i have in my room at home such as the plushies, book stack, and the cup. The only object in the scene that i don't have at home is a Tamagotchi, although i really want one.
These are a few of the images I used for inspiration for my lighting in my scene. I wanted it to feel dark but sot scary. hazy kind of. like when you wake up in the middle of the night and you still feel half-asleep
The main light source is the lantern that is turned on and off by the character. there is an already dim light in the room and a dim light shining from under the door. Multiple Omni lights are used in the lantern to try to maximize how much light is cast. It was challenging to create the illusion of the lantern actually casting the light from within and have it look like how I planned for the light to react with other surfaces and objects in the scene.
The challenges for this where fi
