What is the role of the school counselor?
As the school counselor, I work with administrators, staff members, families and community partners to design data driven programs that will help students meet and plan for their academic, career, social and emotional goals. I aim to provide a foundation for the counseling program rooted in ethical and legal standards, manage the program by planning and detailing the work I do, deliver my services to every child and finally, be held accountable to the program and school by collecting data and changing as needed.
In alignment with the The American School Counselor Association, you will find a calendar of ongoing services I provide as the school counselor. This includes direct services like classroom guidance lessons, short term solution focused counseling and short individual counseling as well as indirect services and program planning which also aim to support students academic, social, emotional and career growth. Every year, I will collect data on the services I provide, review the data and adjust the counseling program based on the needs of the student body and community.
