Mission: The mission of the Comprehensive Counseling Program, in alignment with Northside Elementary School and the Chapel Hill Carrboro City School District, is to foster a learning environment that promotes Thinking, Learning and Growing with Purpose, Persistence and Pride in the areas of Academics, College/Career Readiness and Social/Emotional Development for all students. We work in partnership with school administration, teachers, parents/guardians and the community to ensure every student will experience a nurturing educational environment, where they obtain the knowledge, skills, behaviors and attitudes necessary to live enriched lives as productive members of a 21st century society and eliminate the racial predictability of performance outcomes.
ASCA National Model Mindsets and Behaviors for Student Success
Linked in the title above, you will find the ASCA Student Standards: Mindsets & Behaviors for Student Success which describe the knowledge, attitudes and skills students need to achieve academic success, college and career readiness and social/emotional development," (ASCA 2021). The standards are based on a survey of research and best practices in student achievement from a wide array of educational standards and efforts and are what the counseling program at Northside Elementary aims to teach every student.
