2025-2026
This is based on the Whispers In The Study prompt, I am focusing on a magic sphere and feathers that begin to float and move around. It's kinda based on when Bonnie from the Vampire Diaries shows Elena she's a witch and takes feathers and has them move all around the room from the pillow. My goal is to also make it seem kinda Barbie like so I'm gonna make a lot of it pink. So it's a Vampire Diaries and Barbie mix of a scene. This will be like a whimsical study.

For my texturing I kept it super simple. I made my glass orbe a clearish Pink tone (I know it's blue in this but wtv). I used physical object and glass for it, and then added a marble texture so I could apply multiple colors, and so when it spins it will look much more realistic. I think the marble pattern will also help it actually look like its moving rather than if it were just a solid color. For my base I used a silver and gold marble bitmap and attached it to a physcial object. This allowed it to have my own choice of a base and allow it to be much more custom. The use of materials allowed my primary artifact to be more creative rather than just one solid color.

When I was creating my scene I did not realize how some objects I was planning on creating myself, were actually to difficult to do on my own, which led me to having to gather more assets than I thought. When I was planning a lot of this I wanted to keep it simple because of my time crunch which is fine. The scene is setup in like a study or bedroom type of area so I looked for things I have or have had in my room in the past. I did not realize I would need to gather more objects than I thought, as I thought it would be easier to create the objects. Additonally, I knew that some of the more complicated things would require me importing them such as the cat or the chair.
I used the material editors quite a bit when I was making this as many of my objects need to have a certain pattern or texture to make it more realistic. I very commonly used the bitmap for my patterns in order to make it as customized and to my likings as possible. I used editable poly quite a bit when I needed to shape an object to make it more realistic and move certain vertex's. I also used the scaling tool a lot because when I was importing objects they were coming in all sorts of sizes, so using the scaling tool definitely worked in my benefit when I was making my scene. I did not really have to use that many editable tools though as the simplicity of the scene really worked to my advanatage when designing.
I started by making my main objects or what would be some of the primary objects like my orbe and my table as they are some of the main objects of my scene. Then once I started to import my objects I began to organize them a lot more, so I began to group all my books togther and my bubbles, etc. This was super helpful when it came to making my bookshelf and I had so many box shapes, so grouping them made it easy to find and access them. Having a list objects that I was planning on having in my scene also made the overall process work a lot better so I was not going off track or struggling to add more into my project. It gave me a direct list of objects to try and find to achive a simmilar scene to what I planned
With all of my scene assets and modeling being close to complete, it really helped my invison the scene even more and what I was hoping to get out of it and how I wanted it too look. I have my crystal ball which is my primary object and it will spin and the feathers on the table will begin to rise up and start to move. When the feathers went onto the table it was really what elevated my scene to feel it coming togther as they are the primary objects. But last minute I also deciced to add a bat in order to add some extra stuff to my scene so it will slowly go up the window/portal when orbe is moving as if it is coming from another world or a diffrent dimension.
My lighting plan is to having something simple and coazy nothing to extreame or advanced. I want a lightly lit scene that is not very scary but more so opening like people would want to be in there. I am hoping to have little to no shadows and that it is simple and clean when I am doing my single render shots.
Ultimatly my lighting stayed super simple and classic. I was on a crunch time so I did not feel like I could take a lot of time to do it, but looking back I think I could have switched it up a little bit more because of how plain it is. I do like the fact I have no shadows in my scene. I think having light also helped make my crystal ball stand out some more but also making it a little darker and more unique. It created a contrant to my scene.
My plan is to have a table in my room where a crystal orb is and feathers lay out on the table. As the orb starts to move the feathers begin to rise up from the table and move around. As the orbe slows down so will the rest of my animation and the feathers will begin to move down back to where they started on the table.
As I was making my final project it went through many changes. I definitely simplified it a lot because of time and made it more basic but Mr. B did say "basic is just fine" so that did make me feel better when making it. My animation was kept super smiple though and I stuck to my original plan for the most part which is when I have the crystal orb move so would some objects in the room. I still kept my feathers in the air and floating, but I also added a bat just for a cutesy element but also so I could have something else going on in my animation. When I was rendering my scene I was defenitly anxsious because I was worried it would not turn out how I wanted but I think it did and it also did not take that long to render.
