3D Modeling & Animation
2025-2026
2025-2026
This was one of my favorite assignments because it gave me the freedom to explore what I wanted and play around with things. It was one of my first opportunities to simply use trial and error on something I chose to make, and I'm proud of how it turned out. As one of my first attempts with fur and an organic object, the final came out a lot faster than I had assumed it would. There was a point where the save file got messed up and I had to spend a period re-doing what was lost. I feel that I recovered well from that blow.
This was not an assignment given to me. It's still in the early stages but I'm very proud of how it's turning out, even if it still needs to be tweaked. I've been using the skills taught to me to explore how they can be used in different circumstances, like simply for fun. It's always great to have complete control over what you're making and how it turns out, and trial and error are some of my favorite parts of making this piece. I was exploring materials on the body and blindfold for a while, and I feel that while hasn't ended quite yet, but it's great practice nonetheless.
One of the reasons the Field Scene is one of my favorite models is because I had creative freedom. Yes, I still had to follow a set of instructions, but they were vague enough for me to put in some of my own creativity. I left in the flower the video had instructed me to make, but the other two were my own. I even snuck in a little mouse model into the scene I had made earlier in the quarter. You can't see it in the provided photo, but it's hidden in a little cave under the rocks.
I spent a little extra time on this project that I didn't need to. I finished the model before the deadline and I figured: "Why not play with it a little more?" It's not much change from the original, but I added more of the little elongated spikes on the top and bottom of the wings and ship. Just a little touch of my own. This model was also just generally fun to make for me, so that helped me be proud of it.
I've learned a lot this quarter- from placing my first primitive objects to using lighting and posing cameras. I started off barely remembering where the move tool was, and now I'm switching through create tabs and pulling splines and adding modifiers like I was picking up a pencil. I've learned how to manipulate objects, explore modifiers, and set up renders. I've discovered that it's better to have fun with a project to achieve better results, given the projects I've enjoyed more had better grades. I'm very proud of how far I've come and I'm thrilled to learn more. I hope to better explore the modifiers and other subjects in the create tab- and I'm looking forward to figuring out animation. I have a feeling using bone structures will be at least a little easier than drawing each frame by hand.

I'm really proud of how this model turned out. Humans are hard to draw, let alone model, and I managed to make a humanoid model. I also managed to stick a few anatomically accurate bones in there, too. I feel the textures could use a little work, mainly around the torso, but nonetheless, I like this model and I'm proud of myself. I had to scrap the first version because the skin modifier wasn't working the way I wanted, but I like this one much better than the original anyway.
I've always loved horror and strange things, so the idea of something coming to life in a lab sparked my interest. I took a lot of inspiration from Frankenstein's monster, with the stitched limbs and unfinished body. I enjoyed making the bones, given I study anatomy for my other arts. It was a fun experience, and gave me an excuse to study bodies more.

I liked this piece because of how it ended up in the render. I enjoy watching my work, even if I'm just following instructions, come to life. It's satisfying to me to watch flat colours and shapes gain shine and texture. This one particularly because I like shiny things. The Heart of the Ocean was my favorite out of the three.

For my first attempt at real animation, I liked this assignment. Sure, the movements are still a little stiff and too smooth. I like to think it gives it a personal touch. Inexperience can either ruin or make a piece. I think that it gave this animation an underdeveloped charm of sorts.
This was my favorite quarter. Animation has always been a big thing for me. To be able to do it more easily than I have been is a dream come true. I've learned how to apply bones, animate, and texture models during this quarter. It was tricky at first to figure out the Skin modifier, but after I got the hang of it, it became one of my favorite parts of assignments. I still have yet to master the unwrap UVW modifier, and I hope to be able to practice with it more at home.
