Moncure Families, 

We are heading into a full week for Week 3, and we have several important activities and assessments taking place.

Each day, our teachers are striving to support all students in growing and meeting their individual goals. We are proud to share that Moncure teachers and students worked really hard during the End of Grade testing to maintain a C composite performance grade. We met growth in reading and exceeded growth expectations in Math. This shows that when we work together as a team, our students can achieve excellence and meet and exceed growth in math, reading, and science.

Mclass Testing

This week, our Kindergarten through third-grade students will be participating in Mclass testing. The Mclass is a universal screener in reading that identifies reading skills and potential risks and supports targeted interventions for all learners. Teachers will use this valuable data to organize instruction for reading to meet each student's needs.

Third Grade BOG3 Assessment

Our third-grade students will also take the Beginning of Grade 3 (BOG3) reading test. This assessment establishes a baseline measure of beginning third-grade reading skills and will be administered on Thursday, September 11, 2025. More detailed information will be sent home with our third graders in the form of a letter.

AVID Spirit Week

This week, we will also celebrate AVID! AVID Spirit Week will begin on Monday. See the graphic below for how students can participate each day and show their school spirit.

Looking Ahead

We will soon be sharing our upcoming school focus goals at our Title 1 Parent Night and Curriculum Night on Thursday, September 25, 2025. We are asking all of our families to save the date and time, 5:00-6:30 pm.
