Dear Moncure Community,
As we embark on another exciting school year, I am thrilled to welcome you back to Moncure School. This year promises to be filled with growth, achievement, and countless opportunities for our students to elevate.
Chatham County Schools has chosen "Elevate Chatham” : Rising Together for a Stronger Future as our district-wide theme for this academic year. At Moncure, we're complementing this with our school-specific theme: "Panther Pride on the RISE." These powerful concepts will guide our efforts throughout the year as we strive to create a positive and inspiring learning environment. We believe that by encouraging our students to elevate and helping them rise in their abilities, we are taking significant steps towards achieving our vision of preparing all students for bright and prosperous futures.
Our " Panther Pride on the RISE" theme will be woven into all aspects of school life. We want to show our students that through preparation, hard work, and intentionality, they can develop a strong sense of RISE in their abilities and in themselves as individuals. Elevate will serve them well not just in their academic pursuits, but in all areas of their lives.
Throughout the year, we will also be speaking a lot about AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) which is something that all Chatham County Schools are taking part in and is an avenue for us to ensure we are preparing our students for college and career readiness. Four main pillars make up AVID, including Leadership, Instruction, Systems, and Culture. In order to embed these principles into our work, you will notice that the Panther Weekly is now arranged based on these pillars. We will ensure information sent home is placed in the proper areas and that we are working to solidify our processes and protocols in each of the four pillars.
I am also extremely excited and grateful to the Chatham County Board of Education for approving free breakfast and lunch for all students this year. This highlights our commitment to ensuring that ALL students have what they need to be successful while at school and to remove barriers that may have prevented them from being able to put their best foot forward. Our Middle School students will also participate in a Second Chance Meal between 9:15-9:30 daily you will hear more about this second opportunity to have breakfast for our middle schoolers next week.
As we begin this new school year, I am filled with enthusiasm for the many opportunities our students will have to elevate. Whether in the classroom, on the sports field, in the arts, or in service to our community, each student has unique talents and potential waiting to be realized. Our dedicated staff is committed to providing a supportive and challenging environment where every student can thrive. We look forward to partnering with you, our GMH families, to make this year a resounding success.
Here's to a year of Panther Pride on the RISE, elevate with Moncure.
Warmest regards,
Ms. Harris
