For more than 20 years, we have been proud to offer the International Baccalaureate curriculum in pursuit of this commitment to our students, families and community. 

The IB Diploma is a rigorous 2 year curriculum that aims to cultivate open-minded, balanced and reflective learners who seek to make positive changes in the world. This approach is unique in its focus on the holistic development of the student through its emphasis on global perspectives and inquiry based learning. Moreover, IB learners develop a greater understanding of global citizenship through engaging in content while considering diverse worldviews on a local and global level.  

Because an IB education provides a unique advantage in preparing students for university success, Diploma Candidates are considered among the most highly capable and well-rounded applicants to prestigious universities in both the United States and abroad. James Island Charter High School is the only school in Charleston County authorized to offer the IB Diploma Programme.
