bECOME A JICHS
IB LEARNER
Students are enrolled in the IB Diploma Programme during their junior and senior years of high school. However, the IB experience at JICHS begins during freshman year. The PreIB Programme at JICHS identifies and prepares students interested in taking IB courses as upperclassmen. A student who is conscientious, motivated, interested in learning and willing to cultivate time-management skills are the ideal PreIB and IB learners.
Families and students interested in the PreIB Programme should apply by completing the (current) 8th grade PreIB Programme Application or the 9th & 10th grade PreIB Programme Application.
Eligible families are those who:
reside in District 3 and are, thus, zoned to attend JICHS;
reside out-of-district and participate in the CCSD school choice lottery and select JICHS. Families are highly encouraged to select JICHS as the 1st choice.
Identified PreIB students will prepare and demonstrate eligibility for the DP during their freshmen & sophomore years by:
taking honors and/or AP level English, mathematics, science, world language and history courses;
participating as an active member of at least one school club, organization or sports team;
maintaining high standards of academic and personal integrity;
participating and keeping record of community service work;
actively engaging in school IB events.
