Summer 2024 Graduate PD Offerings

**Please note you must register in Frontline for all graduate credit offerings. Graduate PD courses listed below can be taken free of charge for renewal credit.  If participants would like to receive graduate credit towards a bachelor’s +18 or Master’s +30 from CofC, the fee is $50 per credit hour.**

To receive graduate credit with the College of Charleston, you will need to complete the following:

Step One: Register with the College of Charleston. 

1. 1. • Make sure to have your driver’s license and teaching certificate next to you.

      • Click here to go to the online course pre-registration website or https://ucsccofc.tfaforms.net/217729. 

        • • Select Term: Summer 2024

          • Select Course and Section Number Found Below 

          • Complete all required fields

          • Save and Click “submit”

          • A verification email will be sent from the College once successfully registered.

          • Forward a copy of your verification email to:  tannerdb@cofc.edu

Step Two: Send electronic copies of (send to opde@cofc.edu ):

1. 1. • Teaching certificate & Driver’s license

      • When sending documents, please add to your subject line the Course Title

Proficiency in Practice: A Graduate Course for World Language Teachers - 06.13.24 - 08.01.24

In this interactive series, participants will examine language learning theories and language program data and its implications for instruction and assessment. Participants will explore strong instructional and assessment practices that increase proficiency outcomes from programs that have demonstrated success in existing students with high proficiency and unpack performance and proficiency data to inform instruction and advocate for their programs.

• 3 graduate credit hours - College of Charleston / 60 certificate renewal credits

• 45 engagement hours including 6 asynchronous modules with 4 live Zoom sessions 

• For those seeking graduate credit: $150 for registration with CofC

EDPD 827 L "Understanding the 2021 SC Science Standards: Focus on K-5" 1 Hour GRAD

This online course will guide K-5 teachers through building knowledge of the structure and function of the SC College and Career Ready (SCCCR) Science standards. Teachers will learn about the three dimensions of performance expectations (PE), and explore shifts in grade-level topics as well as classroom practice. Teachers will unpack a PE, analyzing each dimension. Participants in this course will learn how inquiry-based science instruction and performance-based assessment contribute to student mastery of performance expectations found in the SCCCR Science Standards. 

• Self-paced, facilitated course in Canvas | no class meetings 

• 1 Hour of Graduate Credit

• Instructions for CofC registration and Canvas enrollment invitations will be sent to participants who pre- register in Frontline before the start of the course

• DATES: Coursework must be completed in Canvas between  June 17 - August 1, 2024
