How can I get involved in the library?

The Bonds Wilson Library Media Center is a hub for our entire learning community, which includes you, your learner, faculty, staff, and the greater North Charleston community!

We invite you to acquaint yourself with our collection and get involved in one or more of the programs centered in our library media center: our AMLAC Library Advisory Council, and the work we've done digitizing and making more accessible the Bonds Wilson special collection

Academic Magnet Library Advisory Council

2021 - 2022

2022 - 2023

2023 - 2024

In the 2021 - 2022 school year, Academic Magnet High Schoolers forged the first ever Library Advisory Council, a group of students committed to revitalizing the shared AMHS/SOA Library Media Center and ensuring its optimal use for all patrons.

To better gauge the ways in which the library was meeting the needs of students, teachers, and the greater community, the advisory council led a schoolwide needs assessment. In December of 2021, they presented their findings and recommendations to leaders affiliated with both schools.

Today, the Academic Magnet Library Advisory Council continues its work. They promote reading through Book Talks and competitions, collaborate with other clubs to contribute to Book Drives, and have put an enormous amount of work into continuing the work of William Pugh ('15) who established the Bonds Wilson Room, commemorating the legacy of Bonds Wilson High School.
