Students who begin Strings instruction in elementary school build fine motor skills, ear training, and music literacy earlier than their peers.
Studies show that learning to play an instrument can support math and reading development by strengthening pattern recognition, memory, and discipline.
Playing in a group ensemble helps students learn cooperation, empathy, patience, and perseverance.
Performing, even in small settings, helps young children develop public speaking and self-expression skills.
Students who start Strings early are more likely to continue with orchestra in middle and high school.
Learning Strings often exposes students to a diverse range of musical styles and traditions from around the world.
Performance Opportunities
Our students in the Strings programs will have the opportunity to showcase their learning and talent during the school's collaborative Winter Performance and at the Strings Recital in the Spring. Students may also participate in our school's Boo Revue and other community events. Families will be notified of school and community performances ahead of time.
