Incoming juniors: This year, you need to refine your post-secondary plans through research and exploration of the pathways to your career choice. Regardless of whether you plan to continue your education, join a branch of the military, or enter the workforce, it is essential that you take time to research, contact, and visit institutions, organizations, or employers that support your goals.

Identify your intended path below & create a brief presentation for your advisory:


For students who plan to go to Post-Secondary Education (complete A, B & C below):

A: Evidence of college major and/or career exploration (ex. WaytoGoRI.org, Big Future.CollegeBoard.org, Internships, etc)

B: Evidence of three college searches (ie. WaytoGoRI.org, Big Future.CollegeBoard.org, etc.)

C: Highlights of potential schools (ie. school website, pictures, tuition costs, evidence of visit, etc.) and starting application process (ie. school application from website, Common App, SendEdu, Coalition application)

For students who plan to go into the Military (complete A, B & C below):

A: Evidence of exploring the various military branches (ie. talking to recruiters, literature, web-based research)

B: Career and educational opportunities available during and after military service (ie. talking to recruiters, literature, web-based research)

C: Evidence of decisions and reasons for decision made.

For students who plan to go directly into the Workforce (complete A, B & C below):

A: Evidence of career search and exploration including income potential/job availability (WaytoGoRI.org, BigFuture.CollegeBoard.org, bls.gov (Bureau of Labor Statistics)

B: Research steps to get desired job (ie. licenses, apprenticeships, additional coursework)

C: Evidence of sample applications, a resume for potential employment, and list of potential references.
