The weekly quiz on process and policies, introduced as a novel initiative by the training team, has become a cornerstone of knowledge enhancement within the organization. Remarkably, the aforementioned CREs have showcased exemplary performances throughout this quarter's (April - June’24) quizzes, consistently demonstrating their deep understanding and mastery of the subject matter.
The training team shares 5 process related questions, these are assigned to the concerned employees with the help of our HRMS platform - PeopleStrong. Since the questions are majorly assigned to CRE’s the training team translates these questions to 4 languages - Hindi, Kannada, Tamil and Odia for their convenience. The questions are generally assigned from CRE to Regional Manager (RM) level.
A hearty congratulations to the consistent performers and we look forward to having many more of our employees names mentioned in our next issue of the newsletter!

(Fundraising and Treasury Functions)
At Chaitanya, the Treasury Department, comprises a dedicated team of 12 members whose collaborative efforts ensure the financial stability and growth of our organization. The department is structured into two key verticals: Fundraising and routine treasury functions. The primary responsibility of managing liquidity is at the core of the treasury team's mission, ensuring the organization always maintains sufficient cash and working capital to meet financial obligations. This involves prudent short-term investment management, cash flow forecasting, and strategic decision-making related to funding, investments, and risk management. Furthermore, the team excels in corporate finance, making informed decisions that drive growth and profitability through meticulous financial data analysis and managing both loan and non-loan disbursals efficiently.
The treasury department also plays a crucial role in debt servicing, banking operations, stakeholder management, and risk mitigation. They ensure timely interest and principal repayments, optimize cash flow through effective banking operations, and maintain robust relationships with bankers, lenders, auditors, vendors, and regulatory bodies. The team's efforts in stakeholder management build trust and transparency, essential for Chaitanya's operational success. By identifying and mitigating financial risks, the treasury department upholds the organization's commitment to stability and profitability. Their governance and reporting practices are instrumental in maintaining our financial health and supporting our mission to provide affordable financial services to low-income households.
In the realm of fundraising, the team manages the organization’s debt portfolio, proactively handling borrowing strategies to secure favorable terms and reduce overall debt costs. They are actively involved in asset transfers and co-lending activities, ensuring sufficient liquidity for operational needs. The fundraising team also oversees cash flow forecasting, credit rating updates, and cash reserve optimization.
Their diligent efforts in reporting, covenant tracking, and compliance with regulatory requirements have resulted in significant achievements. In the financial year 23-24, they successfully raised over INR 5700 crore in borrowings and persevered to achieve a two-notch upgrade in credit rating from A/Stable to AA-/Stable by CARE and CRISIL Ratings, reflecting Chaitanya’s strong financial performance and sound management practices.

Reviving Traditions: Mahananda Choudhari's Artful Journey from Scrap to Sacred
Mahananda Nilesh Choudhari, a skilled sculptor, has transformed the art of statue-making with her innovative approach. Married into a family with generations of experience in the craft, Mahananda was introduced to this intricate art by her husband. She has since made a name for herself by utilizing unconventional materials, breathing new life into old, unwanted, and refurbished pieces of metal, brass, and copper wires.
Her unique method involves an extensive process that begins with melting the available metal or brass substances, a task that takes an entire day. The liquefied material is then meticulously poured into molds, which serve as the foundation for the statues. These molds are carefully placed in a furnace, where they are heated to achieve the intricate and revered forms of Vitthal and Rukmini.
Chaitanya's support has played a crucial role in Mahananda's journey. With access to necessary resources and financial assistance, she was able to invest in better tools and materials, enhancing the quality and efficiency of her work. This support enabled her to expand her operations, reach a wider audience, and continue her innovative practice of turning waste materials into remarkable works of art.
Mahananda's commitment to using waste materials not only exemplifies the best practices in sustainable art but also transforms discarded items into remarkable works of devotion and beauty. Her craftsmanship stands as a testament to the creative potential that lies within repurposing materials, making her statues not just objects of worship, but also symbols of innovation and environmental consciousness.

Deepali's sports journey
Deepali's passion for sports has been a defining aspect of her life, deeply influenced by her supportive family and her father's encouragement. Growing up in a family with three sisters and one brother, Deepali's father, who works in the central railway, always motivated his children to actively participate in sports. This early encouragement instilled a lifelong love for sports in Deepali.
Deepali's journey in sports began at her school in Shahabad, Karnataka, Kalburgi district. She excelled in various sports, starting with Kho-Kho at the school state level. Her dedication to self-defence led her to study karate for three years during her 8th, 9th, and 10th grades. Alongside karate, she participated in relay running (100 meters) in 7th and 8th grades, and she was actively involved in volleyball and throwball.
In 2019, Deepali's hard work and commitment to volleyball paid off when she competed at the district level and secured the 2nd prize. This achievement stands as a testament to her perseverance and skill in the sport.
Deepali believes that sports are more than just physical activities; they are a way of life. She emphasizes that sports teach invaluable lessons in sportsmanship, resilience, and the pursuit of excellence. Engaging in sports helps build character and personality, offering amazing benefits for the mind, body, and soul. For Deepali, playing sports is a stress reliever, allowing her to forget life's tensions and immerse herself in the game.
As a sports enthusiast, Deepali encourages her friends and colleagues to take up sports and experience its transformative power. She particularly urges girls to engage in sports to stay physically fit and mentally positive. Deepali's story is a shining example of how sports can enrich lives, foster personal growth, Chaitanya India also celebrates her dedication and her inspiring nature to others to embrace the spirit of sports.

Insights from our Town halls : A heartwarming reunion -celebrating our customers/teammates since inception
In the last quarter, we had the pleasure of welcoming our first customers from Nayakanahatty and Jagalur to our Bangalore facility for a special town hall. These individuals, coming from modest financial backgrounds, have transformed into successful entrepreneurs. Many began with tailoring businesses or purchased sheep with their initial loans from Chaitanya.
Now, over 14 years later, most have built their own homes and provided their children with quality education. Some of these children have even become engineers, thriving in cities and surpassing their parents' initial dreams. Witnessing their journey from humble beginnings to remarkable achievements is a testament to the financial ecosystem we have created, enabling them to dream big. Their success truly validates our core values. Our head office employees were thrilled to spend quality time with these inspiring entrepreneurs. The day was filled with memorable moments, reflecting the positive impact Chaitanya has had on their lives. We are grateful for their ongoing support and remain dedicated to advancing their visions.
In our June town hall at the Bangalore headquarters, we had the privilege of hosting dedicated teammates from Bihar and Karnataka (each celebrating over eight years with us). Their visit was a heartwarming testament to perseverance and progress, filled with stories of dedication and resilience that have propelled the region to its current success.
For our head office team, this was a unique opportunity to connect with colleagues from afar, gaining valuable insights into their experiences and challenges. The exchange was enriching, leaving both sides inspired and adding new dimensions to their commitment.
These town halls serve as a reminder of the incredible journeys our customers and employees undertake, and the collective impact of our efforts.
To our cherished long-serving colleagues, we extend heartfelt gratitude for their years of service, loyalty, and passion. Their contributions have shaped our organization, propelling us forward with unwavering belief in our vision.
We wish many more years of success and prosperity together.
