The object here is to get students to slow down and notice things in a problem or in the world around them.

- I have done this with an interesting picture. Here is some pictures I have collected and used. I used this template...cut it into fourths and then also let the students tell me what they were wondering in general. I then read through all of them and shared 3-4 of my favorites the next day during each period.
- Once you have done this with some fun pictures, you could then use this process when you have a big math problem you want them to solve. They read the problem, and then before they jump in they (maybe as a class) list the things they notice and the things they wonder about the problem. Then go from there.
