Dreidel Game: (Fine Motor Skills, Counting, Numeric Concepts, Analyzing Data Sets and Graphs)
Froggy, Dragon, and Camel wanted to play dreidel in the classroom. The only problem? They didn't know how! Luckily our Older 3's team of experts showed them! Each child took a turn spinning the dreidel for the animals, and helping them with their gelt! In the end, we all helped map out which animal had the most gelt, and which had the least!
Patterning Bracelets: (Fine Motor Skills, Pattern Recognition)
After several days spent sorting out blue, yellow/gold, and white beads, we were finally ready to create our pattern bracelets!
We have learned about squares, circles, rectangles, and triangles. Here was our chance to use all of them to create a dreidel and gelt! Children traced the shapes onto colorful paper and then cut out their shapes. We used stamps to create the letters! We had a large circular whole puncher to create the gelt for our colorful creations!
First we rolled our clay into balls. Then we mushed them on the table four times to create the four sides. With pinchy fingers, we made one side into a point. Next we pushed a piece of a dowel in! After we painted them and let them dry, we used a stencil to trace the letters onto the sides! We were very proud of all of our hard work!
