German 2
The German 2 course provides a continuation of the German language skills developed in German 1, with emphasis on Grammar, vocabulary, and culture. The students’ listening, reading, writing, and speaking skills in the German language will be further developed, along with the appreciation of the cultural differences of various German speaking countries.
In addition to the Deutsch Aktuell 2 textbook, we will be using a variety of German resources, such as German news media, journals, brochures, audio and video cassettes, voice recognition software, and the Internet.

As the German 2 class builds on the skills developed in German I it is designed to reinforce the basics of the German language, while introducing the students to more complex grammar structures, with proficiency and increased competency in the language being the focus. New topics will include Einkaufen, Freizeit und Arbeit, Gemeinde und Nachbarschaft, & Reisen/Urlaub, to name a few. We will also be exploring the different cultures of German speaking nations. The course will continue to emphasize the four main goals of learning a second language: listening, reading, writing, and speaking. The students will have many opportunities to practice each of these skills in this class throughout the semester through a variety of activities.
