Private Lessons 

Private Lessons are an optional benefit that is offered to students in Cypress-Fairbanks ISD. Once a week, a student will meet with a specialist on their instrument for thirty minutes of individualized instruction. As band directors, we do our best to hear and give individual feedback to our students as much as possible. The size of some of our classes inhibits this ability and students do not receive forty-five minutes of individual help each period. Private instructors will get to know the ability level of your student and meet them where they are. They will receive help on anything they need help with but will also be able to be pushed a bit faster than students in their class. 

There is an additional cost for private lessons. These lessons are paid for on SchoolCashOnline. Prices for lesson teachers are based on their level of experience. The price begins at $23 and ranges up to $29 for the most experienced teachers. The majority of the teachers that we have at Anthony Middle School are of the highest level. 

In order to begin lessons, an application and application fee ($25) must be completed when a student signs up for lessons the first time. A director will then reach out to the district approved lesson teachers to find them a spot. Some teachers are willing to travel to the campus if they have three or more students at that one campus. If the teacher is able, sometimes students will attend lessons during their band class. If the teacher will not travel to the campus, some travel to another campus may be required. The band directors do not control the private lesson staff's schedules. Private lesson teachers will communicate with parents in order to work out the time and location of their lessons.
