"The wand chooses the wizard," when it comes to instrument selection!
We will have multiple instrument selection nights in the Spring Semester 2026. Select a date below to reserve a time for your child to come to Anthony Middle School to go through the instrument selection process.
Which instrument is right for my student?
Which instrument is right for my student?
When it is time for your student to select which instrument is right for them, the AMS band directors will ask the following questions
Are there any instruments that your student is interested in?
Does your student like high or low sounds? What about percussion sounds?
Which instrument is your student the most comfortable holding?
Which instrument is it the easiest for your student to produce a sound on?
We will have your student try multiple instruments during your reserved instrument selection time slot. We will also go over supplies, costs, any questions you may have about each instrument.
We will fit each student for the instrument that they will be the most successful with!

Flute
The flute is a member of the woodwind family. Students will rent to buy their flute. Click on the video to listen to what the flute sounds like!
Oboe
The oboe is a member of the woodwind family and is a double reed instrument. Students will purchase their own reeds and use an AMS oboe. Click on the video to listen to what the oboe sounds like!
Bassoon
The bassoon is a member of the woodwind family and is a double reed instrument. Students will purchase their own reeds and use an AMS bassoon. Click on the video to listen to what the bassoon sounds like!
Clarinet
The clarinet is a member of the woodwind family. Students will rent to buy their clarinet. Click on the video to listen to what the clarinet sounds like!
Saxophone
The saxophone is a member of the woodwind family. Students will rent to buy their saxophone. Click on the video to listen to what the saxophone like!
Trumpet
The trumpet is a member of the brass family. Students will rent to buy their trumpet. Click on the video to listen what the trumpet sounds like!
French Horn
The French horn is a member of the brass family. Students will purchase their own mouthpiece and use an AMS French horn. Click on the video to listen what the French horn sounds like!
Trombone
The trombone is a member of the brass family. Students will rent to buy their trombone. Click on the video to listen what the trombone sounds like!
Euphonium
The euphonium is a member of the brass family. Students will purchase their own mouthpiece and use an AMS euphonium. Students will also have 1 euphonium at home and 1 euphonium on campus. Click on the video to listen what the euphonium sounds like!
Tuba
The tuba is a member of the brass family. Students will purchase their own mouthpiece and use an AMS tuba. Students will also have 1 tuba at home and 1 tuba on campus. Click on the video to listen what the tuba sounds like!
Percussion
There are many instruments in the percussion family. Students will purchase their own stick bag with the appropriate sticks mallets and a drum pad. Additionally, students will rent to own their practice marimba. Students will use school instruments on campus. Click on the video to listen what some percussion instruments sounds like!
