What are Apps?
Apps are essentially web links to other applications. In 2017, Google stopped offering apps in the Chrome Web Store claiming they were used by less than 1% of its users.
You can still find apps in the Chrome Web Store if you are on a Chromebook. Those apps do carry over to your app grid on a regular computer if you are signed into Chrome.
What are extensions?
Extensions are small programs that run within the Chrome browser. Extensions enable the Chrome user to personalize his/her browser with added functionality.
