Our digestive system has many specialised organs:
Mouth: The teeth crush the food and mixes it with saliva.
Exophagus: The food travels down it to the stomach.
Stomach: In the stomach, the food mixes with gastric juices.
Liver: It produces a liquid called bile that help break down food.
Small intestine: The food goes into it and here it mixes with the bile. Nutrients are absorbed and they pass into the blood.
Large intestine: The undigested food passes into this intestine and water is absorved leaving faeces.
Rectum: The faeces pass throught the rectum and they are expelled throught the anus.
